Vacancy for a Financial Controller
A major player in the Building Material and Construction industry,supply chain solution inc including Haulage & Logistics now wish to employ the services of a contemporary ICT savvy and youthful Financial Controller as Head of Finance and Accounts.
Position Overview
- *Reports To:*MD & General Manager
- *Department: Finance & Accounts
- Location: [Company H/Q -Nnewi]
The Applicant will oversee all accounting and financial functions
1. Core Accounting Functions
- Maintain full set of books:
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in accord with Approved standards and relevant laws.
- Process supplier invoices, client payments,
- Manage tax compliance / file all returns
2. Management & Operation of installed ERP driven and other Accounting Software
- e.g., Zoho books,QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, Oracle Financials, SAP, or industry solution
- Train staff on software usage and enforce standard operating procedures and all internal controls approved by Management
- Generate *real‑time financial dashboards* and ensure data integrity.
- Conduct periodic system audits and effectively resolve all issues on time.
3. Financial Reporting
- Prepare periodic financial statements
- Draft *management reports* (budget variance analysis, profitability by product line,)
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Liaise with top Management, external auditors and regulatory bodies and ensure timely and effective resolution of critical issues encapsulated in the "Management Letter" raised by External Auditors
4. Leadership of the Finance Department
-.Design and enforce effective internal controls and risk mitigation policies
- Coordinate cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
- Review and approve budget allocations and capital expenditure proposals.
- Monitor & supervise credit terms with cement manufacturers and branches
- Monitor inventory control of cement bags and ensure review of recorded cost of goods sold in tune with economic realities
- Monitor Haulage & Logistics department expenses and incomes, ensuring timely and accurate payments according to contractual agreement and good value for money. Report Workshop maintenance expenses and other incurred by the haulage and logistics department as a critical cost centre.
- Manage banking relationships and monitor facilities and charges in accord with relevant CBN regulations and signed. agreements
- Oversee adequacy of *insurance coverage* for assets (Premiums and claim recovery)
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations
- Participate in strategic planning and business development meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional Qualification:-ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CISA, CRISC.,ACFE
Academic:
B.sc / HND in Accountancy
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 relevant years with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the relevant industry.
Proficient in accounting & ERP- driven software solutions (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage, Tally), and Advanced Excel, and financial modelling.Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUM-IFS and data manipulations
Automation and process improvements using technology to streamline workflow, reduce manual inputs / improve efficiency. Familiarity with all Nigerian tax laws
